Organic Synthesis
The PPGQ-UFC Organic Synthesis line concentrates studies on the following themes:
- Obtaining high value-added organic compounds of interest to the pharmaceutical, cosmetic/fragrance and agrochemical industries, through the planning of synthetic routes. In addition to traditional synthetic methodologies, organic reactions are carried out using alternative methods in line with Green Chemistry such as Phase Transfer Catalysis (CTF) and Biocatalysis. It is noteworthy that such methodologies are extremely important for the introduction of chirality in the target molecule through the use of chiral catalysts of phase transfer or biocatalysts (commercial enzymes or whole plant cells or microorganisms).
- Planning of reaction processes for structural modifications of natural products isolated from medicinal flora (mainly regional) with relevant biological activity. Structural modifications of natural products aim to enhance the medicinal action of these compounds.
