Electrochemical Materials
Fundamental and technological researches are carried out in the following topics:
- Corrosion: the corrosion subject are studied: the development of materials with high corrosion resistance, which present potential to be applied in the operating conditions of the pre-salt, nanoparticles as carriers of corrosion inhibitors in polymer coatings, conversion coatings alternatives to chromate layers and new corrosion inhibitor molecules that are environmentally friendly
- Electrocatalysis: In electrocatalysis, it is investigated the development of cathodes and anodes for the electrolysis of water, for the oxidation of small organic molecules and the for the oxygen reduction reaction.
- Electrodeposition of metals and alloy: it is studied the mechanism of electrodeposition and the influence of operating parameters on the properties of electrodeposition electrodeposits.
- Electrochemical sensors: it is studied the modification of metal surfaces with organic compounds, metal complexes and enzymes for detecting biological molecules and environmental contaminants such as NO, dopamine, serotonin and pesticides.
- Effluent treatment: it is studied the development of electrodic materials for electrochemical removal of organic pollutants in wastewater.
