Bioinorganic

The research line in Bioinorganic of PPGQ-UFC was created in 1993 by Professor Ícaro de Sousa Moreira (2008) and its mission is to develop quality multidisciplinary science at the frontier of knowledge. Some of the research activities developed in this field involves the following topics:

• • Innovative metallopharmaceuticals for the treatment of cardiovascular, gastric, infectious disorders or diseases (tuberculosis, Chagas disease, malaria, broad-spectrum bactericides) and cancer.

Investigation of reactivity and mechanism of metallopharmaceuticals and their biological targets.

Physico-biochemistry of metalloproteins (sensor hemeproteins, hemoglobin, cytochrome c, myoglobin) including bioelectrochemistry.
