Master coursework
Master students must complete a minimum of 30 credits (1 credit = 16 h) distributed as follows:
- 12 credits – disciplines related to the research concentration field (including the advanced course);
- 12 credits – activities in related domain areas;
- 06 credits – dissertation.

In the first semester, the incoming master students are required to take the “SEMINÁRIO I” course (2 credits) in which they must defend their research idea in a seminar. We advise those who are interested in applying for the master program to keep previous conversations with possible supervisors.
For all master students, it is It is mandatory to take the qualifying exam (1 credit) up to end of the 3th semester. It is recommended twenty-four months as deadline for depositing the thesis. Comprobation of English proficiency for all students, and Portuguese for foreign students is required.
Students who have completed all requirements, are accredited to request their dissertation defense. The master dissertation must report novel and original contributions to chemical knowledge and be defended to an evaluation committee composed of three members.
